The importance of building good relationships with a local DMC and CVB

As event planners, we know that even the most meticulously planned event can encounter unexpected challenges. That’s why building strong relationships with local Convention Bureaus (CVBs) and Destination Management Companies (DMCs) is absolutely crucial.
Recently, we had the pleasure of visiting a client site for an upcoming international congress that had been in the works for what felt like forever due to rescheduling caused by the pandemic. Our site visit gave us the opportunity to check in with all of our venues and suppliers, as well as discover potential new venues that weren’t available during our initial planning.
But despite our best efforts, we encountered several unforeseen challenges during our visit. Thankfully, our relationship with our DMC and the CVB paid off in spades, as they were able to provide valuable local knowledge and support, help us troubleshoot issues, and even suggest creative solutions based on their experience with similar events.
This experience was a powerful reminder of just how essential it is to build strong relationships with local partners. We know that whatever challenges come our way, we can count on our DMC and the CVB to be an extension of our team, delivering professionalism, kindness, and even a little bit of humour along the way.
To all the fantastic DMCs and CVBs out there, we want to express our sincere gratitude for everything you do. We truly couldn’t do it without you!
